Flyadeal (Arabic: طيران أديل) is a new low cost carrier (LCC) that began operations from their base in Jeddah in September 2017, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Jeddah’s King Abdulaziz International Airport, is poised to be flyadeal’s operating hub beginning in the second half of 2017. flyadeal are fully owned by Saudi Airlines and have been issued their IACO code which is ‘FAD’ by the International Civil Aviation Organisation. flyadeal will use “FAD” as their call sign when operating the aircraft. flyadeal is owned by Saudia (Arabic: السعودية as-Suʿūdiyyah), also known as Saudi Arabian Airlines (الخطوط الجوية العربية السعودية), the flag carrier for The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
flyadeal have stated that they intend to operate on the main domestic routes within Saudi Arabia, including the likes of Jeddah to Riyadh, Jeddah to Dammam, Dammam to Riyadh, with plans to expand into other regional markets.
flyadeal currently have a fleet of six leased Airbus A320’s. Saleh al-Jasser, Director General of the state-owned Saudi Arabian Airlines has stated that it is the aim of flyadeal to operate a fleet of up to 50 narrow-body jets by 2020.
With an all economy class configuration, flyadeal aim to be the low cost and high value airline of Saudi Arabia to service a budget conscious traveller who prefer to select their own in-flight products and services for their journey. Their slogan - ‘‘When we fly, we fly together’, along with a branding position of ‘At the right price, we keep it simple, with great attitude!’ - reiterates the low cost model that the carrier has adopted.
